Bridge  - Spring 2006 038.JPG - Note the water's clarity.  Portions of the bowl are over one hundred feet deep, and you can easily see the bottom.  Divers have mapped the first three miles of the spring, but scientists haven't determined the source of the spring's water.  

Oh, there's another alligator.  Our ranger gave us a method for estimating an alligator's length: one inch of distance between snout and eyes equals about one foot of overall length.  This guy was about 8 inches from snout to eyes, so he was likely around eight feet long.  We couldn't convince Bill Reed to jump in and confirm the method.
